Upcycled Flowers

Hi friends,

Well, it's been a crazy hectic summer and it looks as though the fall will be equally busy, if not more so. I have my comprehensive exams this fall. Sigh.

So ... I haven't completely abandoned my crafty pursuits, they have been curtailed significantly. But, I hope to pop in every now and then with a project.

Today, I'm taking a little break from the piles of reading to wrap a birthday gift for a friend. And I'm sure you'll be shocked to know that I have NO wrapping paper in the house. How in the world does that happen. Anyway, since today is Sunday, I have the Sunday comics sitting in the paper pile. Perfect!

After I wrapped the two small gifts, I put them in a plain white gift bag... the operative word here being plain. This just wouldn't do. Luckily, in my blog surfing this summer I've noticed (and saved) all the posts on how to make flowers (out of paper, fabric, etc.).

I found this really cool flower pattern online and decided to try it out for the front of my gift bag. I think it turned out really well.

I'm going to make some more in different sizes, at some point, with some tissue paper or maybe some light weight dsp.

The possibilities are endless! :)

Summer Jewelry

A few pieces to dress up the summer sundresses ...

Blue earrings (with a little brown and shades of turquoise) for the denim dresses, and some necklaces featuring Chinese knotting I learned in a recent class (not as easy as you might think!).

Jazzy Challenge #10

Happy Tuesday everyone!

This is the card I made for the latest Jazzy Paper Challenge, in
spired by the below album cover.

The card features a digi image by Betty, who is sponsoring this week's challenge. The fleur di lis was fun to work with, and the best part of digi images is that you can size them to suit your needs. In this case, I made it a little smaller to mimic the sun on the album cover. {the rest of my supplies and stamps are SU!}

I've seen quite a few fleur di lis images since making the card. This was on the wall of a cute little restaurant I visited over the holiday weekend, in Asheville, NC.

Check out the Jazzy Inspirations blog if you'd like to play along this week!

Chan Luu knock-offs

Have you seen these Chan Luu Bracelets in the stores and online?

And that they're selling for hundreds of dollars? oy!

So off to the craft table to come up with a handmade knockoff!

I used round pearls (instead of square/rectangular beads) and made it long enough to fit the wrist (as opposed to having it wrap around multiple times). Next time I'm going to try and mimic the Chan Luu style a little more closely.

Heart for Relay

I made this Swarovski Crystal heart pendant for my friend Renee to raffle off at her annual Relay for Life event.

Haven't heard if it sold, but I hope it brought in some money for a great cause!

I am a brave girl!

I don't feel so strong or brave today, so maybe this card will remind me!
